SAN DIEGO — Jerome’s Furniture has returned to downtown San Diego with the opening of its first Dream Shop, aiming to capitalize on its already dominant market share in the bedding category.
The 3,000-square-foot store at 11th Avenue and Market Street downtown is its first devoted exclusively to the mattress category and brings “Jerome’s retail presence back to the area where the company began in 1954,” the company said.
“Our roots are in downtown San Diego and it’s rewarding to be able to re-establish a presence in the neighborhood where my grandfather started the business,” said Jim Navarra, executive vice president of the family-owned Top 100 company.
“We saw a significant opportunity to fulfill the area’s growing number of residents with top-tier mattresses at our everyday low Jerry’s Prices. We’re excited to be back in downtown San Diego.”
Brian Woods, CEO of the 13-store Southern California retailer announced plans for the store in May, noting it would offer the retailer’s full line of primarily proprietary product, developed with supplier partner Diamond Mattress along with the Aireloom luxury mattress brand and bedding accessories.
He said the retailer plans to open several stand-alone Dream Shops in both its San Diego and Los Angeles markets.
Jerome’s is No. 37 on Furniture Today’s survey of Top 100 U.S. Furniture Stores with estimated 2016 furniture, bedding and accessory sales of $230.1 million.
